Superkid Program

Through the Superkid program Aronhiatékha encourages students

Students are awarded a certificate at the monthly Superkid assembly and are given a free period to participate in a special activity. When possible, the school also awards them with a small treat such as popsicles or ice cream. If your child should happen to make the list, you are encouraged to tell them that you are proud.

Catch of the Day Program

The Catch of the Day program is the school's way of teaching students to live courteously and conscientiously. Students who exemplify these traits are awarded with a Catch of the Day certificate when teachers notice them doing something especially kind, helpful, or responsible. During the school's monthly Superkid assembly 5-10 names from the Catch of the Day program are picked and those students are awarded a small treat.

Ice Rink

Aronhiatékha has access to the ice rink behind the school thanks to the Recreation Department. For safety reasons, only children who can tie their own skates and can actually skate will be permitted to use the ice rink. Students must bring and wear a helmet while on the ice. Please make sure your child's name is written on all their equipment. The following skating schedule is being used in order to properly watch out for the safety of the children.

Students from Grades 1-2-3 can skate during lunchtime on Tuesdays. Grades 4-5-6 can skate during lunchtime on Thursdays.

Healthy Eating Program

Aronhiatékha has partnered with the Kanesatake Health Center Inc. to help encourage healthy eating habits. Aronhiatékha believes that children who eat breakfast do better in school and are more likely to participate in physical activities. Children who are encouraged to adopt healthy eating habits at school tend to eat healthier in general. Some suggestions for quick and healthy breakfasts are:

Traditional breakfast ideas:
Healthy snacks:
Recipe: Super Strawberry Bars: Coat an 8" x 8" square pan with non-stick cooking spray. Preheat oven to 350° F. Mix everything together except the jam. Take out 2 cups of the mixture and press into bottom of pan. Make sure to cover the whole bottom of pan. Spread the jam over the mixture. Spread leftover mixture over jam, making sure to press it down lightly. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove pan from oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes. Cut the bars into 12 squares and enjoy!

Once a month Aronhiatékha hosts a special breakfast to help make sure students eat a healthy breakfast. In the past, the school has served a continental breakfast and a pancake breakfast. This has been made possible due to the generosity of the Kanesatake Health Center Inc.
